The short version
Our games have no accounts, no ads and no cookies, and we never sell or share your data. Your progress stays on your device. The daily puzzles send us anonymous results so everyone can see how the day's puzzle went. Guzhi collects nothing at all.
This policy covers Graycells Games, a part of Graycells LLC: this website and our games Uh·Loud, Layers, Can You Ballpark?, Since When?, Due North and Guzhi.
The daily puzzles
Uh·Loud, Layers, Can You Ballpark?, Since When? and Due North are played in your web browser. Each has its own website, and they all work the same way.
What stays on your device
Your games, streaks, stats and settings are saved in your browser's local storage, along with a random ID that your browser makes up the first time you play. The games also keep a copy of themselves on your device so they load quickly. Clearing your browser's data for a game's site removes all of it.
What we receive
When you finish a daily puzzle, the game sends us your result: the date, the random ID, and how the game went (for example whether you solved it, how many tries or guesses you used, and how long you took). If you share your result, the game also notes that you shared it. We use results only to show everyone's totals and to tune how hard the puzzles are. The random ID isn't linked to your name, your email or anything else about you, and we don't record your IP address with results.
Counting visits
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to the games' websites. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you across sites. The games are hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs for security.
No microphone
Uh·Loud asks you to say the sound tiles out loud to yourself. It never uses your microphone. None of the games ask for your microphone, camera or location.
Guzhi
Guzhi, our iPhone game, does not collect any personal data. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising, and nothing about how you play is collected, shared or sold.
Game Center
Signing in, finding friends and sending invites are handled by Apple's Game Center, under Apple's own privacy policy. To show who you're playing with during a match, Guzhi receives only the display name and photo Game Center already shares for that match. Guzhi doesn't store either one. They exist only for the length of the match, on your device.
Purchases
Guzhi Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Guzhi never sees your payment details, billing address or card information. Apple's StoreKit tells the app only whether the purchase succeeded.
This website
graycellsgames.com has no cookies, no analytics and no ads, and its fonts and trailers are served from this site itself. It is hosted by GitLab, whose servers keep standard logs, including IP addresses, for security and operations.
Children
Our games are for players of any age. We don't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date at the top of this page.
